HANDS I
For a long period of time I had a fascination with skin,
the way it wraps our bodies, the wrinkles and blemishes
unique to each person, the way it moves and stretches
around each muscle and bone. This fascination really
came to the surface when I started photographing and
painting hands. These hands, mostly my own and my
close relatives all had such unique markings and colours,
with veins of blue and green undertones protruding to
the surface, and pink and purple marks and scratches all
over. Hands are so commonly painted in art, they have
the power to convey human emotion in very subtle but
expressive way.
